Your replacement schedule will probably be determined by your insurance provider, but this guide will give you a good baseline for the recommended time frame of use for your CPAP machine tubing and filters. The Importance of Replacing Your Equipment
CPAP machine tubing and filters are tricky because they look to be in good condition for much longer than they actually are. Furthermore, failing to replace the parts compromises your CPAP therapy because you’ll be breathing unclean air. Much like cleaning your machine, swapping out old parts for new will keep everything working as it’s supposed to so you can get the quality sleep your body needs.
CPAP Tubing Replacement
Whether you have heated or standard CPAP machine tubing, be sure to replace it every three months. There are two reasons for this: tiny holes and condensation. Regular use of a CPAP machine results in holes, which are just part of normal wear and tear—or the mark of pets whose claws and teeth can puncture the tubing. Unfiltered air then seeps in, which can lead to interrupted CPAP therapy.
Condensation inside the tubing is another normal part of owning a CPAP machine, and daily cleaning certainly helps avoid buildup. But it’s still a prime location for bacteria colonies to develop when not replaced regularly.
Equipment manufacturers recommended replacing your CPAP tubing every three months, which will maintain the treatment’s efficacy and help with your machine’s overall function.
Reusable Filter Replacement
CPAP filters are relatively inexpensive parts that need varying replacement based on your environment, but both reusable and disposable filters will ensure you’re breathing in the cleanest air while you sleep. Similar to the tubing, reusable filters can become subject to bacteria if left too long without replacement. Most machines have two filters, and the reusable one is usually made of foam and is gray or black in color. The standard is to replace the reusable filter every six months with a weekly cleaning to keep it fresh.
Disposable Filter Replacement
Disposable filters are typically white in color and are more subject to environmental factors like pet hair or dust. These can be replaced as needed, such as when you start to see discoloration or visible wear and tear. However, the average schedule allows for biweekly replacement.
Get to Know Your Insurance Provider’s Schedule
While these guidelines are what’s recommended by health providers, each sleep apnea patient’s insurance circumstance is different. Whether you’re just getting started with your CPAP therapy or you’re already familiar with the ins and outs of your machine, it’s helpful to get as much information as possible from your health insurance provider.

Three months after your first order, we’ll let you know (via email) that it’s time to replace your CPAP supplies, and we will ship out a package with a replacement mask, tubing, and filters for your CPAP machine, all including in your monthly fee.
Every package allows you to choose your preferred style of CPAP mask and the brand, make and model you prefer. You have the choice of standard tubing or heated tubing. You have the option for extended tubing options with heated tubing. Every package also includes cushions for the mask and filters for your machine
